Many of us have been worried about moles, or have an unsightly mole we have wished away. Unfortunately blowing them to the moon has not yet proved successful. But now, CBD for moles has become the new alternative cure according to The Alternative Daily. CBD, or cannabidiol, the non-psychoactive ingredient found in cannabis, is becoming a very popular skin remedy. It has strong anti-inflammatory properties and is a strong anti-oxidant.
Apply CBD directly on moles
The article says that CBD can be a hassle-free way of getting rid of moles. People simply apply CBD directly onto the mole. The alternative would be surgery, which is rather extreme and expensive. Can this CBD for moles treatment really work? After all, we’d love to get rid of annoying moles without a trip to the doctor. It seems that there’s some logic behind the idea, and a few reports of moles shrinking away.
Bulging with age
Moles, or nevi, are cell clusters. They usually appear in childhood and stop developing by the age of 25. They may change over time. Sometimes, they become more raised or bulging. The color may change, and sometimes hair grows out of them. A few centuries ago, people thought moles were beautiful, but sadly, we don’t see them that way anymore!
Mostly harmless
Most moles are benign. There are a few warning signs when people should take moles more seriously. For instance, if they are getting bigger fast, are irregular in shape and color, are bigger than 15 mm, bleeding or oozing, itchy or sore it’s best to see a doctor. In this case, the mole could be a melanoma or skin cancer.
CBD for healthy skin cells
CBD oil is rich in all sorts of skin nutrients. Alternative Daily says it can get rid of moles because it encourages healthy skin cells to grow. It also contains vitamins and fatty acids that keep the skin looking healthy and vibrant. The omegas keep the skin moist and supple. CBD can also be of benefit for other skin conditions such as acne, eczema, and it can reduce wrinkles and fine lines.
Potential treatment for melanoma
Cells in our bodies have receptors for the substances found in cannabis, called cannabinoids. The author of a study on CBD and healthy skin published in British The Journal of Pharmacology in 2013 says cannabidiol and cannabigerol can repress the transcriptional process in cells.
Thus, they can control differentiation and rapid growth of cells. This makes CBD a leading compound in the development of skin treatments. In fact, studies on CBD as a potential treatment for melanoma produced encouraging outcomes.
CBD for moles: no specific research
Anecdotal evidence shows that CBD applied directly to moles over a period of time will make them smaller. However, nobody has ever conducted a scientific study on CBD for moles. That having been said, the theory seems sound enough. We already know that CBD is good for skin, and its anti-inflammatory properties could surely help when they become inflamed.
Alternative Daily admits that it can’t say whether using CBD for moles has a scientific basis, but it concludes that it may help, and certainly can’t hurt.
